Learning Design Partners is a small home based program based within a school community in the beautiful Gulf Islands.
Our teaching staff and program, in true island spirit will focus on community, nature and the arts.
Our program supports and encourages diverse learning paths, flexible programming, strong relationships, multi- age groupings and connections.
We foster a child-centred and collaborative approach to learning, and strive to empower our students with mastery and an enthusiasm for lifelong learning.
Our program includes:
- an excellent teacher-student ratio.
- a lending library with a wide range of materials, including science, math kits, and online resources.
- funding for additional resources to enrich and support learning plans (e.g. lessons, field trips, etc.).
- access to school facilities, libraries, gymnasium, curricular and extra- curricular activities.
- regular multi age group activities
Our School District will:
- provide a BC certified teacher.
- provide clear program expectations and guidelines.
- fund additional resources to support student learning plans, with the approval of the teacher/principal
Our BC certified teachers support families and their children in learning outside of the traditional school setting and schedules.
The Teacher will:
- Together with families, we develop and implement individualized learning programs following the BC curriculum.
- Our teachers work collaboratively with families to ensure students progress through learning outcomes for each grade level (K-8).
We will:
- collaborate with the parent three times per year to develop learning plans, assess student progress and write progress reviews.
- assess each learner’s skill level in reading, writing and math to determine a baseline for instructional planning.
- engage in regular communication with the parent and student via e-mail, phone or in person.
- record each student’s progress information on the Permanent Student Record.
- approve additional resources to support student learning plans.
The Parent will:
- make weekly communication with the teacher regarding the learner’s progress and facilitate direct teacher contact with the learner.
- support a program meeting the learning outcomes of the BC curriculum.
- collaborate with the teacher three times per year to develop learning plans,
- assess student progress and write progress reviews.
- help the learner develop and sustain a complete portfolio of learning.
- care for and return borrowed resources or those purchased
The Student will:
- progress through the learning plan.
- contribute to the learning plan goals.
- engage in regular communication with the program teacher via e-mail, phone, in person or through work sample submissions.
