Homeschool vs. Learning Design option

Our students though often may learn in a variety of environments including their home are different from independent homeschooled children who may register with a school but receive no direct support by a resource teacher.

Learning Design Partner students

  • students are enrolled in learning that takes place in both the home and school community
  • a method of instruction that takes place outside the classroom setting and includes direct and indirect communication between students and teachers, including internet or other electronic-based delivery, teleconferencing, or correspondence.
  • program is the responsibility of School District 64
  • program is directed and supervised by a British Columbia-certified teacher
  • program meets provincial standards
  • students receive on-going regular assessments, report cards,  and a permanent student record
  • this is  a strictly secular program

The Homeschooled child

  • Homeschooled children are registered at a school by September 30th
  • Homeschooled children’s educational program is the responsibility of the parent/guardian to provide and supervise the educational program.
  • Homeschooling program does not have to meet provincial standards
  • Homeschooling is not inspected by the Ministry of Education
  • Students do not receive a British Columbia Dogwood graduation certificate
